The last couple of weeks have been full of ice related research. Two weeks ago I spent some days at the University of Eastern Finland, visiting Dr. Eliisa Lotsari and making future plans together. We will analyze data from SWIP sensors (shallow water profilers) to better understand the ice formation and potential for winter flooding.
This week we had visitors to Umeå University from both Finland and Germany and spent most of the week in field taking ice and current measurements. We also put some sesmic sensors in the ground trying to capture under ice sediment transport and ice break up.
