About me and our lab
My Career
After finishing upper secondary school I continued my education at Umeå University for a Bachelor and Master’s degree (2010). I also received my doctor’s degree in ecology from Umeå University, studying under Professor Christer Nilsson.
After receiving my PhD I moved to Troy, NY and Rensselear Polytechnic Institute for a postdoctoral research position with Professor Rick Relyea in the Jefferson Project. Thereafter, I had a postdoctoral position at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå with Professor Hjalmar Laudon. Then I returned to my home University for another postdoctoral position at Umeå University with Dr. Lina Polvi and Professor Christer Nilsson.

Currently, I have a position as Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer, Docent) at Karlstads University.

The lab

In Sweden we like to collaborate, and I am part of a large lab: River Ecology and Management (check out and read more about project and our team at: http://www.nrrv.se/)
We are a diverse groups with 12 PhD students which of one I am main supervisor for and three PhD students that I co-supervise:

Elin Blomqvist: Started spring 2021 in a project looking at invasive lupines and trying to find management strategies

Henry Hansen: Started fall 2020 as part of Marie Curie EU project: RIBES And his project will link landscape, habitat and fish behavior to river alterations and rehabilitation scenarios.

Roman Motyka: Started 2019 and is working a project looking at connections between eel habitat, growth, behavior, survival and landscape settings.
Jacqueline Hoppenreijs: Started 2019 in a project looking at connections between riparian plant communities, dis-connectivity and restoration of rivers.

Students BSc and MSc
Each year I supervise a number of students in their thesis work on various projects which of some are connected to my research topics.
