The first week of field work is finished, and we always know that the perfectly planned experiment may not work as perfect in field, but this week was almost extreme. In the experiment we want to release seeds (small wooden cubes) and see how they disperse during spring flood. Sounds easy enough if it wasn't for the fact that I broke some ribs last week = painful to lift, carry stuff and breathe. The bad luck continues with closed roads, very muddy roads, water too deep to cross, equipment that didn't work and even some sites were still frozen. It is also so much water during the spring flood that some sites were very difficult to work in. However, overall we did our best and for now will this very tired scientist and mom hope for a good nights sleep and a baby that does't wake up too often:)
